Collection: Majolica
Majolica is a type of pottery very popular in the mid to late 1800s and early 1900s in England whereby colored glazes were applied to earthenware and then fired. This resulted in vibrant, brightly colored, hard wearing pieces that are both useful and decorative. They often feature natural forms such as plants: leaves, foliage, flowers, vegetables, crops. This type of majolica was first introduced by Minton & Co at the 1851 Great Exhibition in London and has subsequently been produced by numerous English and French pottery companies
